EAGAN, Minn., Nov. 20, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- via PRWEB - Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota (Blue Cross) achieved a perfect score and the designation as a Best Place to Work for LGBT Equality on the Human Right Campaign's (HRC) annual Corporate Equality Index (CEI) for 2015. This marks the fourth consecutive year that Blue Cross has achieved this designation. Blue Cross was rated among 971 businesses in the country and was one of only 366 to achieve the top rating of 100 percent in 2015.
The CEI is broadly recognized as the premier national benchmark for LGBT workplace inclusion. The policies, benefits and practices businesses must implement to earn a perfect score are regarded as best-in-class demonstrations of corporate commitments to LGBT workers.
"Blue Cross is honored to have again earned a 100 percent rating," said Paula Phillippe, senior vice president of human resources and external relations. "We are proud to be consistently recognized for our commitment in developing an inclusive workplace for all employees. Achieving this premier standing is important for Blue Cross in recruiting and maintaining a talented and diverse workforce."
The 2015 CEI rated 971 businesses. For the CEI report, the HRC evaluated a series of LGBT-related policies and practices, including non-discrimination workplace protections, domestic partner benefits, transgender-inclusive health care benefits, competency programs and public engagement with the LGBT community.
