OptimumBank Holdings Announces the Death of Director Sam Borek


FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., Dec. 15, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- OptimumBank Holdings, Inc. (Nasdaq:OPHC), the parent company of OptimumBank ("Company"), announces with great sadness the loss of Sam Borek, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Bank. Mr. Borek, 64 years old, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, December 12, 2014.

OptimumBank Holdings shareholders and the OptimumBank management team, as well as the employees and many of the people he worked with and befriended over the years, are greatly saddened by the passing of Sam Borek. "We mourn his loss and extend our sympathies to his family, particularly his wife and three children, who meant the world to him," stated Bank Chairman Moishe Gubin.

A banking and real estate attorney in the state of Illinois, Mr. Borek was the founder and managing partner of the Law Offices of Borek & Associates. "Sam Borek was instrumental in raising the capital required to start the Bank in November of 2000. He was the last remaining founding director and a source of great strength and leadership to the Bank during his fourteen year tenure on the Board," stated Thomas Procelli, Bank Director and COO.
