ALM Acquires Kennedy Consulting Research & Advisory

Deal Marks First Step in Company's Strategic Acquisition Plan Designed to Leverage and Expand World Class Media and Information Platforms

NEW YORK, Dec. 16, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Marking the first step in its acquisition and growth strategy, ALM, a leader in specialized industry news and information, and publisher of The American Lawyer and The National Law Journal, announced a deal to acquire Kennedy Consulting Research & Advisory, a part of Kennedy Information LLC. Kennedy Consulting Research & Advisory is the world's leading source of market analysis and intelligence for the management consulting and IT consulting industries. The transaction is expected to close on December 31, 2014.

"The addition of Kennedy Consulting marks the first milestone in our growth strategy, paving the way for expansion of our professional services beyond the legal industry," said Bill Carter, CEO of ALM. "Kennedy's array of products and their reputation as a trusted analytics resource will also enable ALM to further expand our Legal Intelligence offering to include more authoritative research and advisory services for legal professionals."

Kennedy's clientele consists of Fortune 500 companies and the most highly regarded professional services firms in the world, representing more than 90% of the service providers in consulting. The deal includes the acquisition of Kennedy's Consulting Magazine, its consulting services operation as well as several market-specific analytic, forecasting and news products, which span multiple services areas, client vertical industries and geographies. ALM also will take over The Kennedy Vanguard, which evaluates consulting firms based on the breadth and depth of service capabilities, in a similar vein to ALM's AmLaw 100 law firm rankings.

"As a market leader in the professional services space, Kennedy Consulting has a strong portfolio of assets that strategically align with the ways in which ALM serves the legal industry through robust publishing and intelligence offerings," said Jeffrey Litvack, President, ALM Intelligence and Chief Digital Officer. "The deal is a natural fit, enabling ALM to leverage our strengths beyond the legal marketplace, while extending the breadth and reach of the capabilities Kennedy brings to bear through our advanced technology platforms and digital expertise."
