Z-Medica Awarded a Novation Innovative Technology Contract Covering QuikClot(R)

WALLINGFORD, Conn., Jan. 9, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- via PRWEB - Z-Medica, LLC, a leading developer and marketer of hemostatic devices, announces today receipt of an Innovative Technology Contract for the company's QuikClot® products from Novation, a leading health care services company.

Novation serves more than 100,000 members and affiliates of VHA Inc., UHC, Children's Hospital Association and Provista. In 2013, these health care organizations purchased $49 billion of products and services through Novation contracts.

Novation's Innovative Technology program seeks to identify and contract for innovative medical products used in the clinical care of patients that offer an incremental benefit to patient care, or patient or healthcare worker safety. The process includes review by a clinical member council or task force to determine whether the technology represents an incremental advantage for providers.

"This is the first Novation contract for Z-Medica and QuikClot," says Z-Medica President and CEO Stephen J. Fanning. "We are excited as we feel QuikClot brings superior clinical, strategic and economic value to the health care organizations they serve. Moreover, being part of the Innovative Technology category further supports Z-Medica's mission to provide 'best in class' hemostatic products, with applications throughout the hospital setting."
