Mid Penn Bank Seeks Approval to Open Branch in Mechanicsburg

HARRISBURG, Pa., March 12, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Mid Penn Bank is seeking regulatory approval to open a branch at 5288 Simpson Ferry Road in Mechanicsburg, adjacent to the Windsor Park Shopping Center in Lower Allen Township. The bank today submitted an application to the Pennsylvania Department of Banking and Securities and to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation.

If approved, this will be Mid Penn Bank's second branch in Mechanicsburg. The bank's other Mechanicsburg location is at 4622 Carlisle Pike in Hampden Township. Mid Penn currently has 19 branches serving Cumberland, Dauphin, Lancaster, Luzerne, Northumberland and Schuylkill counties.

Upon receiving the required regulatory approvals and renovating the existing space, Mid Penn intends to open the branch in May 2015. This would make it the second branch opened this year by the bank, following the opening of its Elizabethtown office in early February. Additionally, Mid Penn completed its merger with Schuylkill County based Phoenix Bancorp, Inc. and its subsidiary Miners Bank on March 1, 2015.

"In accordance with our plan to grow our franchise through acquisition opportunities and organically through market expansion, we are pleased to announce this additional retail location," said Mid Penn Bank President and CEO Rory G. Ritrievi. "Our Board of Directors and management team are focused on introducing Mid Penn Bank to new communities and sharing the ideals, products and services that continue to win over customers. We look forward to expanding our presence in Mechanicsburg and in Cumberland County."

Mid Penn anticipates hiring four to six employees to fulfill personal banking needs, business banking needs and lending needs at the location.
