Northrop Grumman Discusses its Economic Impact at California Aerospace Week


REDONDO BEACH, Calif. — March 23, 2015 — California's largest aerospace company, Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC), will highlight its significant economic and educational impact on the state during California Aerospace Week in Sacramento, March 23-24.

James Zortman, Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems' vice president of global logistics and operational support, will discuss the company's numerous facilities in the state, where some of the world's most advanced manned, unmanned, space and missile systems are built. As the state's largest aerospace company, Northrop Grumman's economic impact includes:

  • More than 25,000 employees and $2.5 billion in payroll in California;
  • More than $1.8 billion spent with over 4,000 California suppliers;
  • More than $5.2 million in charitable contributions in California; and
  • More than $1.8 million in education partnerships with 23 California universities.

Zortman, a retired U.S. Navy vice admiral who joined the company after a distinguished 34-year career, will meet with legislators during the "California Aerospace 101" session March 24 from 2 p.m.–4 p.m. in Room 113 of the Capitol.

Northrop Grumman's recent notable manufacturing efforts include building the world's largest aircraft with a 385 ft. wingspan in Mojave and developing the world's fastest integrated circuit that operates at 1 trillion cycles per second at its advanced microelectronics foundry in Manhattan Beach.

California Aerospace Week, co-hosted by the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) and the Aerospace States Association (ASA), serves to educate lawmakers on how aerospace impacts the state's economy, education system, manufacturing base and workforce.
