Lucite International Opens Call for Entries in Annual JUST IMAGINE Awards and Presents Design Clinic at GlobalShop 2015

LAS VEGAS, NV--(Marketwired - Mar 24, 2015) -  Lucite International, owner of the LuciteLux® acrylic brand, today opened the call for entries for its third annual JUST IMAGINE Awards (JIA) program at GlobalShop 2015 in booth #3510. The JIA celebrate the work of designers who turn their creative vision into reality using LuciteLux® acrylic.

A distinguished panel of judges, who represent excellence in design, will critique JIA entries. New to the roster this year is Alexis Bittar, whose sculptural jewelry is worn by the likes of Michelle Obama and Lady Gaga. His love affair with LuciteLux® acrylic transcends his global jewelry empire. In fact, as part of Bittar's recent 25th anniversary celebration, he commissioned four prominent contemporary artists to create original artwork using the material.

"I believe LuciteLux® offers endless creative possibilities; I've been working with the material for a quarter century and am still finding new ways to manipulate it," said Bittar. "I look forward to judging this year's entries so I can see how other designers imagine LuciteLux®."

Bittar is known for his labor-intensive seven-part process that involves hand-carving, hand-painting and hand-polishing clear and frosted LuciteLux® acrylic. You can read more about Bittar's history with the material on the LuciteLux® blog.

Lucite International will celebrate the 2015 JIA winner with a full-page spread in Architectural Record as well as a making-of documentary that tells the story of the designer's work with LuciteLux®. The JIA prize package is valued at nearly $30,000.

"GlobalShop presents what's trending right now in retail design and offers inspiration at every corner, making it the ideal event to announce our JIA call for entries," said Chris Robinson, business manager for acrylic sheet products at Lucite International.
