Desalitech Wins 2015 Global Trade Award From Associated Industries of Massachusetts

High Efficiency Water Treatment Company Receives Recognition for International Trade

BOSTON, March 26, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Associated Industries of Massachusetts International Business Council (AIM-IBC) announced today that high efficiency water treatment company Desalitech won its 20th annual Global Trade Award. The award recognizes Massachusetts companies and public agencies that have demonstrated excellence in international trade. Specifically, Desalitech was recognized for increasing jobs in the state by entering new global markets, establishing partnerships to increase international trade and investing in infrastructure and manufacturing in Massachusetts. Previous award recipients include notable companies such as Ocean Spray Cranberries, Raytheon, and Philips Electronics North America.

"Massachusetts companies are key players in the global economy, offering innovative products and services produced in Massachusetts to markets across the globe," said Richard Lord, president and CEO of AIM. "From providing access to overseas markets with non-stop flights from Boston to offering new environmentally sensitive technologies and products that are critical to a variety of businesses, local companies have developed strategies to be successful globally."

Desalitech distinguished itself through its commitment to addressing the daunting global challenge of water scarcity. Desalitech's ReFlex™ Reverse Osmosis products feature patented CCD™ technology which typically reduces waste by 75 percent and energy consumption by up to 35 percent, providing sustainable and cost effective solutions for international water challenges. Desalitech systems are used for industrial water purification by Coca Cola in Asia, for consumer product manufacturing in Mexico and for beverage production in Africa. They are used for water recycling in Singapore and in Israel, and for industrial and agricultural water supply and treatment around the world.

"The world is running out of water. Industry is the largest user in developed countries, using nearly 60% of freshwater withdrawals. With our partners, Desalitech is tackling water issues all over the globe in countless industries and applications," said Desalitech's CEO, Nadav Efraty.

Desalitech will be honored with a Diplomat's award at the 2015 Global Trade Awards ceremony, which will take place at AIM's 100th Annual Meeting on May 8, 2015 at the Westin Boston Waterfront Hotel. The event will include a keynote address by Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker and will be attended by many state government representatives.
