Peab Builds Collision-free Road Path in Västmanland

Peab has been contracted to build a new collision-free stretch of road 252
between Hallstahammar-Surahammar in Västmanland County. The customer is Swedish
Transport Administration and the contract amounts to approximately SEK 135
million.
The contract covers about 8 km new road where the road's lanes separated by a
median barrier. The project also includes new connection to Hallstahammar and
four bridges.
- We are very pleased to have the confidence of Trafikverket to build the road
252 in a completely new route. When the road is clear, our actions involve a
much safer way for all residents and passers-by in the region, says Berth
Larsson, Regional Manager at Peab.
The developing of the road improves the road's function commute and the
connection between roads 66 and E18 as well as reducing traffic impact of the
aquifer at Rävnäs.
Road 252 between Hallstahammar and Surahammar is an important regional liaison
but now has problems with accessibility and traffic safety. The road is only six
meters wide and winding.
Work will begin in summer 2015 and will be completed in Autumn 2017.
The project was reported in the first quarter 2015.
