Azul Brazilian Airlines and Fort Lauderdale Strikers Forge Partnership

Brazilian Airline's Logo to be Featured on Backs of Strikers Jerseys Beginning Saturday


FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., May 22, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Azul, Brazil's largest airline by number of cities served, announced a partnership today with the Fort Lauderdale Strikers, South Florida's only professional soccer team, that includes the Azul logo and marks being featured on the Strikers players' jerseys for all remaining 2015 matches.

Strikers Managing Partner Ricardo Geromel, a Brazilian native, made the announcement: "We are pleased to welcome Azul to the Strikers family as a partner," said Mr. Geromel. "Azul has a sterling reputation as a service-friendly airline that delivers value to its customers. We are eager to team up with Azul on exciting promotions."

The agreement also includes Azul promotions on-site at Strikers games and elsewhere in the South Florida community.

Azul commenced daily nonstop flights between Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International and São Paulo/Campinas on December 2 last year, and is adding another three weekly roundtrips on the route starting July 1.

The Fort Lauderdale Strikers, South Florida's only professional soccer team, are part of the North American Soccer League (NASL). The Strikers were acquired last fall by an ownership group led by Paulo Cesso, Ricardo Geromel and Rafael Bertani. Brazilian soccer icon Ronaldo Luís Nazário de Lima, commonly known as Ronaldo, joined the ownership in December. The team plays in venerable Lockhart Stadium, which was built in 1959 and has hosted professional soccer for more than 35 years. The team finished as the NASL runner-up in 2014.
