Lucid Launches "Connected Cities," a Clinton Global Initiative Commitment, to Bring 100 U.S. Cities Online and Enable a More Resilient Urban Infrastructure

Anchor Cities Orlando and Santa Cruz Will Bring Their City Buildings Online Easily, Automate Energy Star Reporting With Dell's IoT Hardware and Lucid's BuildingOS Software

OAKLAND, CA--(Marketwired - Jun 10, 2015) - Lucid, the leader in integrated building management software, today announced the launch of Connected Cities, a technology-driven program that will connect 100 U.S. cities to BuildingOS over the next three years in order to maximize resource efficiency. The program, born out of Lucid's commitment to action to the Clinton Global Initiative, is being anchored by two forward-thinking U.S. cities: the City of Orlando, Florida and the City of Santa Cruz, California.

"The City of Orlando has worked to become one of the most sustainable cities in America, and we are committed to building partnerships and sharing resources that foster positive environmental changes," said Buddy Dyer, Mayor of Orlando. "Over the past eight years, the City has achieved more than $1 million in annual energy savings. Our partnership with Lucid will enable us to go beyond energy savings; Connected Cities will help us to build a smarter city that is ready to tackle the challenges of the 21st century."

Lucid has partnered with Dell to enable rapid on-boarding of city buildings by providing cutting-edge IoT solutions to facilitate a quick and easy implementation process. Additionally, a new Energy Star application within BuildingOS automates cities' Energy Star data collection, management and reporting across municipal building portfolios, dramatically simplifying the process.

"Current IoT solutions offer long implementation times, and complex proprietary designs that raise risks and costs," said Andy Rhodes, Executive Director IoT Solutions, Dell. "In order for Cities to become smarter, we need to make it easy for them to connect their buildings. That's why we are excited about our partnership with Lucid, which will deliver on that objective."

Connected Cities Provides the Tools for Success
Participating cities will receive access to BuildingOS, the leading building management platform, to centralize energy and water data for all city buildings, empowering data-driven resource decisions. Cities will also receive access to Lucid's new Energy Star application for BuildingOS, which automates Energy Star benchmarking and disclosure for all buildings, as well as Bill Trends, an application that automatically collects and analyzes all utility bill data.

Bolstering the Connected Cities offering is the Connected Cities Network, a network of experts in city resource efficiency. The network fosters collaboration between cities to share scalable tactics and creates network effect for all city stakeholders to collectively yield significant cost, energy and time savings.

"Our mission at Lucid is to make building management simple," said Vladi Shunturov, Lucid's CEO. "Our technology is only one piece of that. Ensuring that every one of our customers has a path to success is also key. With Connected Cities, we are giving cities of all sizes the tools and network they need to reduce energy costs, accelerate workforce productivity, and optimize taxpayer dollars."
