Cision Signs Agreement to Divest Vocus UK and Cision UK Business as a Result of Competition and Markets Authority Review

Cision signs an agreement to sell its Vocus UK and Cision UK business and certain assets to Access Intelligence

CHICAGO, June 16, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- via PRWEB - Cision, a leading global media intelligence company, today announced it has signed an agreement to sell its Vocus UK and Cision UK business and certain assets to Access Intelligence.

In March 2015, the UK Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) announced that Cision's completed acquisition of Gorkana Group, a UK-based media intelligence and data insights service provider, could lead to a substantial lessening of competition in the production and supply of media contact databases.

As a result, the CMA approved Cision's proposal to divest its Vocus UK and Cision UK business to address the CMA's concern. AlMediaComms will acquire 100 percent of the Vocus UK and Cision UK business and certain assets, including the media contacts database, UK-based customers and employees, and third party supplier agreements.

Cision will now resume integration activities with Gorkana Group and operate in the UK market under the Gorkana brand.

"We are eager to re-engage with the Gorkana Group team and remain committed to our mission to improve our products and services for PR, social and content marketing professionals, while also better serving the global journalist community," said Cision CEO Peter Granat. "We will work closely with Access Intelligence plc to ensure a successful transition of our Cision UK and Vocus UK business."

Joanna Arnold, CEO of Access Intelligence plc, said "the acquisition and integration of a premium medium media database will considerably augment our subsidiary's, AIMediaComms, leading media relations management platform, Vuelio. It will enhance our ability to provide the best possible service to the combined client base, across the private, public and not for profit sectors. The acquisition of the UK operations of Cision and Vocus clearly demonstrates our continued commitment to the investment in our platform and our future development plans will significantly drive the PR and media intelligence industry forward in the UK."
