First Citizens Bank Completes Conversion of Capitol City Bank & Trust Division

RALEIGH, N.C., June 29, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- First Citizens Bank announced that its Capitol City Bank & Trust (CCBT) division based in Georgia has completed its conversion to First Citizens' operating systems. Effective today (Monday, June 29), all former CCBT division branches now carry the First Citizens Bank name.

"This successful conversion represents the continued growth of our company in an important market for us," said Frank Holding, chairman and CEO of First Citizens Bank. "We are committed to providing exceptional service and responsible corporate citizenship in the community."

The transition of the CCBT division to First Citizens Bank follows completion of a technical conversion that puts both banks on the same system. The conversion includes seven former CCBT division branch locations in Georgia: Lee Street, Cascade Road and Peachtree in Atlanta; and Stone Mountain, Albany, Augusta and Savannah.

"Now that the conversion to First Citizens' systems is complete, customers can benefit from our full suite of products and services, such as mobile banking, and new opportunities to bank conveniently at First Citizens locations in 18 states," said James Bennett, area executive leading the former CCBT division. "Business customers will enjoy new options like online banking, remote image deposit and powerful cash management products. And, of course, we'll continue to offer excellent service at all our locations."

The First Citizens Bank name will now be displayed on bank products as well as on bank buildings. Signs at the former CCBT division offices were changed to First Citizens Bank.

On February 13, the Georgia Department of Banking and Finance closed the former Capitol City Bank & Trust Company of Atlanta, Ga., and appointed the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. (FDIC) as receiver. That day, First Citizens Bank announced an agreement with the FDIC to purchase certain assets and assume certain liabilities of Capitol City Bank & Trust Company, which at that time became a division of First Citizens Bank. Information detailing the conversion and transition to First Citizens Bank was mailed to the bank's CCBT division customers in May.

Founded in 1898 and headquartered in Raleigh, N.C., First Citizens Bank is the largest family-controlled bank in the U.S., with more than 570 offices in 18 states.
