Michael Baker International Selected for Worldwide Architectural and Engineering Services Contract for Air Force Civil Engineer Center (AFCEC)

Company to Perform Work on Military Bases in U.S., Abroad

PITTSBURGH, Sept. 22, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Michael Baker International, a global leader in engineering, consulting, planning, technical and professional services, is serving as a prime contractor for the U.S. Air Force Civil Engineer Center (AFCEC) for the first time. The company is among a group of firms to be awarded the Architect-Engineer 2013 Design and Construction Services contract, which represents $950 million of engineering and design work to be performed on military installations worldwide through 2022.

"Serving as a prime contractor for the U.S. Air Force extends Michael Baker International's already strong relationship with this branch of the military and with a variety of other federal government agencies," said Kurt Bergman, CEO of Michael Baker International. "Our full continuum of innovative solutions, our global reach and our deep understanding of the stringent requirements for construction on a military base will enable us to help the Air Force fulfill its important mission."

The agreement allows Michael Baker experts in engineering, design, IT, geographic information systems (GIT) and other areas to bid on a wide array of projects in support of the U.S. Air Force. This includes the development of comprehensive engineering and design plans for the modernization of operational facilities and the construction and renovation of military family housing.

The Air Force also seeks firms to handle construction oversight responsibilities on military installations, which involves the supervision of contractors and quality assurance enforcement.

The 772nd Enterprise Sourcing Squadron Joint Base in San Antonio-Lackland, Texas, announced the winners of the contract in late August.
