PHILADELPHIA, Sept. 28, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Leading global start up accelerator Dreamit announced today that three of its alumni companies were selected to participate in pitch competitions in Philadelphia and Baltimore to win a $100,000 investment. The events are part of Revolution's Rise of the Rest Tour with Steve Case.
The Rise of the Rest Tour, which stops in Baltimore, Philadelphia, Buffalo, Manchester, and Portland this week, invites eight of the most innovative local start ups in each city to pitch their companies to Steve Case and a panel of all-star judges, with a $100,000 investment prize going to the winning start up in each location.
The three Dreamit alumni companies selected are:
- SmartPlate - SmartPlate is the world's first intelligent plate that instantly analyzes everything you eat with up to 99.7% accuracy. The patent-pending technology deploys deep learning algorithms, image recognition, and low cost sensors that identify and weigh foods in less than a second.
- WhoseYourLandlord - WhoseYourLandlord is a web app that enables renters to find their next home and review their landlords and housing complexes.
- Sisu Global Health - Sisu Global Health is a medical device pipeline into emerging markets to strengthen health systems through medical device commercialization, starting with the devices themselves. They are currently launching Hemafuse, a surgical tool to recycle a person's own blood from internal bleeding.
Founded in Philadelphia in 2008 by veteran entrepreneurs, Dreamit's one of a kind accelerator program helps entrepreneurs and investors find their futures by creating value and reducing risk at the most innovative – and most volatile – time of a start up's life.

Each leg of the tour will feature meetings with local entrepreneurs, businesses, non-profits, universities, and public officials to discuss the opportunities and challenges of fostering start up growth.
Dreamit will host Steve Case and the Revolution team at its Philadelphia headquarters Tuesday, where 12 companies from around the world are currently participating in the Dreamit Health program.
