LogMeIn Announces Sponsorship of Inaugural Grand Prix of Boston

BOSTON, Oct. 14, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- LogMeIn Inc. (NASDAQ:LOGM) today announced that the company has signed on as the Presenting Sponsor for the Grand Prix of Boston, to be held Labor Day weekend 2016. The inaugural event will be held September 2-4, 2016, in the South Boston Waterfront area and will feature world-class street racing including the Verizon INDYCAR Series and other sports car events, and a range of family-friendly activities. LogMeIn plans to leverage its award-winning Internet of Things (IoT) platform and application solution, Xively, to bring IoT technology to the Grand Prix to help enhance the fan experience.

LogMeIn made the announcement at its inaugural Internet of Things (IoT) event, Xperience 2015, being held at the Boston Seaport Hotel, a few blocks from the company’s worldwide headquarters (320 Summer Street, South Boston), and in the very location of next year’s Grand Prix.

“This is a great win for the City of Boston – we’re expecting an influx of tourism and support for local businesses, and residents will be able to see one of America’s greatest sports featured right here in our City,” said Mayor Martin J. Walsh. “The Grand Prix of Boston represents the latest success on the South Boston waterfront, and we’re excited to work with IndyCar and companies like LogMeIn to give the best sports fans in the world one more thing to cheer about.”

LogMeIn was founded in 2003 and has grown to become the largest high-tech company to be headquartered in Boston’s Innovation District, employing roughly 500 employees in Boston and more than 1,000 employees worldwide. The company plans to continue their growth and investment in the Boston community, having recently leased an additional 117,000 square feet of space across the street from its 110,000 square foot worldwide headquarters. This expansion will not only double its workspace in the neighborhood, but create hundreds of jobs over the next few years.

“Boston is a city of innovation and firsts, and it’s only fitting that our inaugural race be powered by LogMeIn, a company based right here in Boston that has revolutionized business practices worldwide,” said Mark Perrone, Grand Prix of Boston President & Chief Executive Officer. “To include a cloud company of this quality to our event truly raises our capabilities to capture and make sense of every bit of information needed to make our fan experience the best it can be at every level.”

“LogMeIn has always been committed to investing in our Boston community and having a positive economic impact on the city and the Fort Point neighborhood,” said W. Sean Ford, LogMeIn’s CMO. “The Grand Prix represents an opportunity to continue to solidify Boston as the hub of innovation for the Internet of Things, and showcase Xively, our award-winning Internet of Things platform and application solution. We are extremely honored to be the presenting sponsor of the first ever INDYCAR race in Boston.”

Grandstand and General Admission tickets will go on sale in November 2015.
