SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 22, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Today Larkin Street Youth Services celebrates the 20th anniversary of "Putting the Pieces Together" a colorful 96 panel Mosaic Mural at the Powell Street BART/MUNI station; created between 1992 and 1995 by over 300 Larkin Street clients under the leadership of Peter Carpou, currently Larkin Street's Liason for the Arts and Cultural Development.
These 2' x 4' mosaic panels are an authentic and passionate reflection of issues facing homeless young people in San Francisco in the early 90's, and many of these same issues continue to this day. The mosaic mural is recognized as one of the top nine mosaic murals in San Francisco.
