As Executive Chef, Sexton will oversee all food and beverage operations at LaPlaya Beach & Golf Resort and the hotel’s award-winning restaurant, BALEEN, while utilizing his depth of knowledge and creativity to develop an eclectic menu offering palate-pleasing options.

With more than 30 years of extensive experience in the culinary field and hospitality industry, Sexton joins LaPlaya Beach & Golf Resort most recently from Turnberry Isle Resort & Club in Aventura, Fla., where he served as Executive Chef, overseeing the resort and club’s culinary operations, achieving annual F&B sales exceeding $28 million. Previously, Sexton served as the Executive Chef at a number of notable establishments throughout Florida, including Reunion Resort & Club in Reunion, PGA National Resort & Spa in Palm Beach Gardens, The Registry Resort & Club in Naples, as well as The Boca Raton Resort & Club in Boca Raton. Sexton began his culinary career at the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, N.Y., and then expanded his knowledge within the food and beverage industry, having developed his own catering company, Sexton Caterers LLC, in Hartford, Conn., where he was responsible for all aspects of backstage catering at major entertainment venues.
