Otonomy Added to NASDAQ Biotechnology Index


SAN DIEGO, Dec. 15, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Otonomy, Inc. (Nasdaq:OTIC), a biopharmaceutical company focused on the development and commercialization of innovative therapeutics for diseases and disorders of the ear, today announced that the company has been selected for addition to the NASDAQ Biotechnology Index® (NBI) effective December 21, 2015.

The NBI is designed to track the performance of a set of NASDAQ-listed securities that are classified as either biotechnology or pharmaceutical according to the Industry Classification Benchmark (ICB). These companies must meet eligibility requirements, including minimum market capitalization, average daily trading volume, and seasoning as a public company, among other criteria. The index is re-ranked annually in December. The NBI forms the basis for a number of Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) including the iShares NASDAQ Biotechnology ETF.
