Eulo Chiropractic Center Now Providing New Jersey DOT Exams

SEWELL, N.J., Jan. 24, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Eulo Chiropractic Center announced that chiropractor Dr. Christopher Eulo is now certified to provide New Jersey Department of Transportation (DOT) exams. Federal law mandates that anyone applying for a commercial driver’s license (CDL) must pass a DOT physical exam. This test confirms a driver’s physical fitness for operating a vehicle. Test requirements include a vision exam, hearing exam, blood pressure and urine test. Washington Townships chiropractic physician Dr. Eulo now offers these tests from his office, in addition to providing chiropractic care to address back pain and neck pain complaints common in commercial drivers.

“I’m proud to announce that Eulo Chiropractic Center is now a one-stop destination for commercial drivers,” said Dr. Eulo. “I’ve been working with commercial drivers for many years now to help treat pain associated with long hours in a vehicle, including low back pain and neck pain. Now, I’m excited to be offering DOT exams for compliance with New Jersey commercial driver’s license requirements. Drivers have hectic schedules and my goal is to reduce the need for multiple office visits by offering all the care they need in one place.”

DOT physical exam requirements include vision, hearing, and blood pressure tests. Individuals must have 20/40 corrected vision, the ability to distinguish color, and the ability to hear a forced whisper at a distance of five feet. Blood pressure must be lower than 140/90; blood pressure medication is permitted. As part of the DOT physical, drivers will need to complete a urine analysis test.

Blood pressure is an important part of the DOT physical. For the most accurate readings, Dr. Eulo recommends avoiding coffee or cigarettes at least 30 minutes in advance of the test.

In some cases, individuals may qualify for an exemption from the diabetes, seizure, and vision standards, according to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA). More information on the exemption application is available online at www.fmcsa.dot.gov or by speaking with Dr. Eulo.

Dr. Eulo says he became a certified DOT examiner due in part to the demand from his current clients.

“I already work with several commercial drivers to provide drug-free back pain relief, so offering DOT physicals just made sense,” said Dr. Eulo. “Our goal is to take the hassle out of scheduling DOT exams so drivers can easily complete these tests. In many cases, we are able to offer a DOT test within 24 hours of receiving the appointment request. We hope to make life a bit easier for commercial drivers.”
