BARCELONA, Spain and WILMINGTON, Del., Feb. 22, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- MOBILE WORLD CONGRESS -- InterDigital, Inc. (NASDAQ:IDCC), a mobile technology research and development company, will be featuring a unique and innovative Next Generation Networks (NGN) architecture with a flexible routing solution that yields exponential video streaming gains at Mobile World Congress, the industry's premier conference, from February 22-25, 2016 in Barcelona.
The flexible routing solution utilizes an innovative Information Centric Networking (ICN) approach that re-introduces multicast into a world of predominantly personalized web experiences and provides flexible routing at runtime through Software Defined Networking (SDN)/Network Function Virtualization (NFV) software elements. The technology has been developed in collaboration with four other collaborators from the EC-funded collaborative research and development projects, POINT (“iP Over IcN – the betTer IP”) and RIFE (aRchitecture for an Internet For Everybody). In addition, the flexible routing solution recently became ETSI’s MEC Industry Specification Group’s fourth proof-of-concept.

The live large scale demonstration will run over a European test bed with a local frontend in Barcelona that features about 200 users watching an HTTP-level video. InterDigital will demonstrate a 10x multicast gain as well as a reduction in server load through multicast delivery of HTTP responses in a HLS video streaming scenario. The demonstration will also showcase latency reduction and video quality improvement through runtime integration of surrogate servers.
