DURHAM, NC--(Marketwired - April 26, 2016) - Principled Technologies (PT) assessed the performance of two VMware vSphere 6 blade environments: one on a 16Gb-enabled Dell PowerEdge M1000e enclosure with PowerEdge M630 servers, powered by Intel, and the other on a Cisco UCS enclosure with Cisco servers. Both solutions utilized the Dell Storage SC9000 All Flash SAN with 16Gb Fibre Channel as the storage backend.
To determine how both solutions would perform for a growing business, PT evaluated total storage IOPS and throughput while scaling from one to eight blades. The Dell solution maintained robust and consistent performance throughout scaling, while the Cisco UCS solution's performance-per-blade deteriorated with each additional blade. The Dell solution was also compatible with Dell Active System Manager, which can reduce the time required to deploy blades on the Dell PowerEdge M1000e chassis. With the Dell solution, admins wouldn't have to waste extra time and energy on deployment.
