Vocera Wins Two Awards for Its Powerful Patient-Centered Video

SAN JOSE, Calif., May 04, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Vocera Communications, Inc. (NYSE:VCRA), the leading healthcare communications company, today announced it has received two awards for its recently released “The Vocera Story” video that illustrates the importance of instant and efficient communication across an entire healthcare system and throughout a patient’s journey.

The five-minute video follows the story of a heart attack survivor and his wife from the beginning of an emergency cardiac event throughout the hospital stay. Across this experience, viewers watch care team members inside and outside the hospital collaborate in real-time using smartphones, hands-free communication badges, and other mobile devices. The Vocera Communication Platform plays a leading role in the story, positively impacting patient safety, satisfaction and outcomes.

The patient-centered video received the Communicator of Excellence Award from the Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts in two categories: Public Relations and Corporate Image. The Communicator Awards program is the largest and most competitive awards program honoring creative excellence for communications professionals. More than 6,000 entries were received from across the U.S. and around the world and were judged by the Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts, a 600+ member organization of leading visual arts professionals dedicated to embracing the evolving nature of traditional and interactive media.

The Vocera Story video also earned a Platinum 2016 Hermes Creative Award in the Product Marketing Video Category. Hermes Creative Awards is an international competition for creative professionals involved in the concept, writing and design of traditional materials and programs, and emerging technologies. Approximately 15 percent of the estimated 6,000 entries win the Platinum Award – the organization’s top honor.

“Recognition by these industry professionals is proof that The Vocera Story video is a powerful tool that resonates with many people,” said Kathy English, vice president of global marketing at Vocera. “We are thrilled to receive these awards and to shine a spotlight on the impact that the Vocera Communication Platform has on the lives of patients, families and care teams around the world.”
