Hippies May Have Retired, But Their Vintage Vans Are Still Going Strong

BRUNSWICK, Maine, May 24, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Vintage Van Adventures launches its 2016 Vintage Volkswagen camper van rental season with a new essay contest. To enter the essay, go to www.vintagevanadventures.com/essay-contest-vw-campervan/. The judged winner receives a free week of adventure camping in a nostalgic Westfalia camper van including all gear and provisions.

Vintage Van Adventures takes old Westfalia vans and meticulously restores them, makes some modern improvements and offers them for summer rental. The vans are a cool, one of a kind icon. They remain one of the best designed vans ever made. In the world of vans, they’re German engineered and remain the Swiss Army Knife of vans. They are easy and fun to drive and guaranteed to turn heads as you pull up to a country store or seaside campsite. They are very economical and have certainly paid their carbon footprint dues, too.

With all the features and comfort of a rolling home, baby boomers, couples, friends, families and millennials alike find a different adventure on the road in these restored, rare and vintage vans.

Vintage Van Adventures offers 1985-1991 vans fully provisioned with all the camping gear so all one has to do is “arrive & drive.” Each van comes with complete outfitting including grill, bedding, coffee maker, kitchen ware, cook ware and dishes. Each includes a built-in kitchen and comfortably sleeps 4. Simply go get your favorite wine and groceries and you are off to a unique, one of a kind experience.

According to Bob Muller, the owner of Vintage Van Adventures, folks are booking group outdoor van adventures as well as special honeymoons. All are looking for a nature experience. Some small groups are doing rafting and sea kayaking while others are girl groups looking for hiking, biking and canoeing. Most design their own unique trip hitting special remote areas as well as outstanding State and National Parks. This year is special since it is the 100 year anniversary of our National Park Systems.

Rental reservations are available beginning June and go through September. Each van is available for weekly rentals with pickups on Saturday after 12pm and returns on Friday evening before 5pm. Rates are all inclusive at $1,675 for one week and includes an extremely liberal 1500 miles per week (~200 miles per day average). A full refundable security deposit is also required.

Renters receive a completely serviced van – mechanical systems, restored or new motor and plenty of attitude. Each van is thoroughly checked out and serviced by Foreign Auto Supply (FAS), a renowned and worldwide Westfalia expert of more than 25 years.
