AccessData to Teach Session on Digital Forensics at GenCyber's 2016 Cybersecurity Camp for Girls

LINDON, Utah, June 07, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- AccessData Group, a leading provider of integrated digital forensics and e-discovery software, will participate as featured presenters at the 2016 “GenCyber: Girls in Cybersecurity” camp at Dakota State University in Madison, S.D.

GenCyber is a unique program created by the National Security Agency and the National Science Foundation that consists camps in 140 locations across the U.S. The DSU Girls camp allows girls in 7th-9th grades to explore an interest in cybersecurity through learning about programming, networking and security.

The camp at Dakota State University (DSU) is the largest residential girls camp in the nation, with a full enrollment of 144 girls registered and an additional 100 on a waitlist. The DSU camp will take place from June 20-24, 2016, and will be directed by Dr. Ashley Podhradsky, professor of Information Assurance and Digital Forensics at DSU.

“GenCyber Girls in Cybersecurity is focused on teaching girls the foundation of cybersecurity,” said Dr. Podhradsky. “Digital Forensics is a huge component of cybersecurity and we are thrilled to partner with AccessData so the girls can learn from one of the best in the industry.” For more information about the camp, please visit www.gencybergirls.camp.

“We are delighted to partner with DSU in this important opportunity to introduce girls to the world of cybersecurity in general and digital forensics in particular,” said Lori Tyler, vice president of global marketing for AccessData. “Our instructors will provide the students with hands-on experience in the collection of data from mobile devices and teach them how we conduct digital forensics investigations.”

Tyler said that AccessData professionals have dual goals in their presentation to the campers: (1) To educate them about the risks of sharing information on the internet and teach them about safe online behavior; and (2) To inform them about the digital forensics profession so they may one day consider a career in cybersecurity.

AccessData is the market leader in digital forensics software solutions for law enforcement, government agencies and corporations. The company will make available to GenCyber participants its flagship digital forensics tool, Forensic ToolKit® (FTK®), a global digital investigations platform built for speed, stability and ease of use.
