Connecticut Technology Council and Marcum LLP Announce 2016 Marcum Tech Top 40 Companies; Ninth Annual Event to Honor State’s 40 Fastest Growing Tech Companies

HARTFORD, Conn., Aug. 04, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Connecticut Technology Council (CTC) and Marcum LLP today announced the 2016 Marcum Tech Top 40, an annual recognition of the fastest growing technology companies in Connecticut.  This year’s group of top-ranked companies will be honored at an awards ceremony at the Oakdale Theater on September 22.  A complete list of companies is available online at www.ct.org, as well as below.

The Marcum Tech Top 40, now in its 9th year, recognizes technology leaders in six industry sectors, including Advanced Manufacturing, Energy/Environmental, Life Sciences, New Media/Internet/Telecom, IT Services, and Software.  Companies are both privately and publicly held, and have at least $3 million in annual revenue and a demonstrated record of revenue growth in each of the preceding four years.

Of the 2016 honorees, 12 companies are publicly traded, and five have more than $1 billion in annual revenue. Geographically, Fairfield and New Haven Counties are each home to 12 companies this year, followed by Hartford County with 10. Windham and Litchfield each host one company, while Middlesex and New London Counties each boast two Tech Top 40 companies.

For the first time, two companies qualify as Accelerator Companies, a classification reserved for companies that successfully scaled to $3 million in revenue in less than three years. This year’s Accelerator Companies are Arccos Golf LLC and MediaCrossing Inc., both of Stamford.

“The technology sector continues to be one of the brightest spots on Connecticut’s business landscape,” said Michael K. Brooder, CPA, partner-in-charge of Marcum’s Hartford, Connecticut, office. “The Marcum Tech Top 40 is a way of recognizing this and celebrating the achievements of some of the most exciting companies and products in the state.  It is an honor to partner with the Connecticut Technology Council on this outstanding event each year.  Marcum is proud to extend an enthusiastic congratulations to all of this year’s fastest growing technology companies.”

Bruce Carlson, CTC’s President and CEO added, “Connecticut is proud of its remarkable heritage of innovation and entrepreneurship. Employment growth in Connecticut will come in part from the technology sector, and these Tech Top 40 companies are a great example of the diversity of a technology sector that is growing substantially and adding jobs.”

This year’s event sponsors include: Title Sponsor Marcum LLP, as well as Astor Place Inc.; CBS, a Xerox Company; Chubb Group of Insurance Companies; Enhanced Capital; Frontier Communications; HB Live; Pullman & Comley LLC; SIMA International; Stonehenge Growth Capital; UK Trade & Investment; Webster Bank; The Fairfield County Business Journal and The Hartford Business Journal.

The September 22 awards program will include an exhibition featuring all of the Marcum Tech Top 40 companies. Six category winners will be announced, and one company will be named overall winner for demonstrating the greatest percentage growth in revenue across all the technology verticals.
