CHG Healthcare Services Acquires Utah-Based Global Medical Staffing

National healthcare staffing leader purchases international locum tenens company

SALT LAKE CITY, Aug. 25, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- CHG Healthcare Services, the nation's largest privately held healthcare staffing company, announced today its acquisition of Global Medical Staffing (GMS). Founded in 1994 in Salt Lake City, GMS places physicians in locum tenens (temporary) assignments in healthcare facilities across the world.

GMS began placing American and Canadian doctors in Australia in the early 1990s. The company now staffs doctors in the United States, Australia, New Zealand, Southeast Asia, the South Pacific, the Caribbean, Canada, and the United Kingdom. GMS actively recruits doctors from the U.S., Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Europe and employs more than 50 people in its Salt Lake City headquarters.

The CHG Family of Companies

Global Medical Staffing joins two other locum tenens companies owned by CHG, including Salt Lake City-based CompHealth and Weatherby Healthcare in Fort Lauderdale. CHG also owns two nurse staffing companies, RNnetwork in Boca Raton, Florida, and Foundation Medical Staffing in Edmond, Oklahoma.

CHG employs more than 2,200 people in eight offices in Utah, Florida, North Carolina, Connecticut, Michigan, and Oklahoma.

A People-Centric Culture

CHG is known for its employee-centric culture that is built on its core value of Putting People First, providing an atmosphere of respect, caring, support, and fun. Employees feel free to be themselves and are passionate about the work they do.

"CHG and Global Medical Staffing share a commitment to placing high-quality providers who deliver outstanding patient care, as well as a passion for making a difference in the world," says CHG chief operating officer, Mark Law. "Bringing GMS into the CHG family allows us to meet the growing need for physicians in the U.S. and abroad."

In 2015, CHG's staffing companies placed more than 12,000 healthcare providers across the country who served approximately 21 million patients.

"We're excited to combine our expertise in international and domestic staffing with the experience and resources of CHG. CHG founded the locum tenens industry in the United States and we took that model and applied it overseas," says Global Medical Staffing CEO, Robert Stringham. "In addition to their successful business model, we've long been impressed by CHG's culture and look forward to being a part of it."
