Ambra College First to Offer Higher Education in Portuguese

Over 1 million Brazilians live in the US and virtually have no access to higher education in their native language Portuguese

ORLANDO, Fla., Sept. 06, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Ambra College, established in 2010, is the first degree granting higher education institution in the US to serve the Brazilian community living here (approximately 1 million people) and abroad by offering programs in Portuguese. Ambra is headquartered in Orlando – FL and students can study in Orlando or online.

Currently over 3 million Brazilians live outside of Brazil and virtually have no access to higher education in their native language (Portuguese). Ambra College is licensed by the Florida Department of Education and is a quality option for this important minority. Currently Ambra has students in the US, Europe, Asia, and South America. Many Brazilians cannot attend other American schools because they are either small business owners focusing on their own businesses and don’t master the English language at the formal level or because they feel more comfortable by studying in their native language.

On top of that, Brazil is the main trade partner of the state of Florida where tens of billions of dollars are involved in that trade. Therefore, Florida needs qualified professionals that speak Portuguese in the areas of Business and Brazilian Legal Studies and that understand the Brazilian culture to help in this trade of historical partners.

“Ambra College was created to offer the best of the American higher education to Brazilian expatriates that prefer to study in Brazilian Portuguese,” stated Alfredo Freitas, Executive Director of Ambra College.

The college offers 30 seats per program per quarter for its bachelor’s programs and up to 40 seats for its post baccalaureate program.

Programs currently offered:

a) In business: Bachelor’s degree and post baccalaureate certificate
b) In Foreign Legal Studies: bachelor’s degree (addressing the Brazilian Legal Studies).

My experience with Ambra was very good. I studied entirely over the internet even living in London (UK). When I started studying at Ambra, I managed a team of 6 people and today I manage 30 people. I thank part of that to the confidence and knowledge that I acquired while studying at Ambra,” said Joice Martins (Alumni) – Brazilian expatriate living in London.
