RAPS' New Book Offers 36 Articles on Eclectic Science Topics for Curious Readers

ROCKVILLE, Md., Sept. 6, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Regulatory Affairs Professionals Society (RAPS) has just published a new book that offers curious readers a collection of 36 brief, interesting articles on a range of science and regulatory topics, some published for the first time. The new book, Eclectic Science and Regulatory Compliance: Stories for the Curious, by Max Sherman, is a follow-up to his popular 2012 book From Alzheimer's to Zebrafish: Eclectic Science and Regulatory Stories.

Topics Sherman covers in Eclectic Science include mindfulness; aging; the senses of sight, sound, smell and touch; and interesting facts and contributions to scientific research of animal species including pythons, tarantulas and giraffes. He also examines the importance of teaching and learning within the regulatory profession. And while the book is intended to appeal to regulatory professionals, anyone interested in science will find plenty to enjoy.

"The word 'curious' that appears in the book title is paramount, and in my experience, curiosity is one of the major characteristics distinguishing a good employee from someone that is mediocre," says Sherman. "Curiosity, according to recent findings by the American Psychological Association, also has the power to change behavior and entice people into making smarter and healthier decisions."

Sherman's own curiosity is the driving force behind the subjects he chooses to explore, and he demonstrates an unquenchable thirst for knowledge. "Some strange fact I may gather sparks my interest and I go on from there with additional research," he says. "The more diverse the topics the better."

Max Sherman is president, Sherman Consulting Services in Warsaw, IN, USA. He has more than 40 years of regulatory experience, working for companies including Zimmer, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Parke Davis and DuPuy/Johnson & Johnson.

Eclectic Science and Regulatory Compliance: Stories for the Curious is available for purchase online from the RAPS Store at www.raps.org/store for $29.95 (US) or $24.95 for RAPS members.
