RENO, Nev. and SQUAW VALLEY, Calif., Sept. 08, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- On September 17-20, aviation leaders will gather in Lake Tahoe to discuss trends that will define the future of the industry. Trends such as new-platform supersonic airliners coming in next ten years, major shifts in global air traffic, the future of Cuba-US travel, the emergence of China as a major force in global aviation, the need for US airports to rethink business strategies, and new airline genres coming on line.

These are just a few of the emerging – and status-quo disrupting – aviation trends that industry decision-makers will be exploring at the 21st annual Boyd Group International Aviation Forecast Summit, held at Squaw Valley and hosted by Reno-Tahoe International Airport.

The IAFS is known for being the event where aviation leaders gather to learn about the dynamics that will shape the future. CEOs and senior executives from all sectors – airlines, aircraft manufacturers, financial institutions, labor and airports – gather for three days of intensive analysis of the concepts that will change how the industry does business in the years ahead.

Forecasts will be presented from all global aircraft manufacturers – Airbus, Boeing, Embraer, Bombardier, Mitsubishi and ATR – in addition to the Global Fleet Forecast from Boyd Group International. The 2017-2026 Airports:USA® enplanement forecast is a key part of the IAFS.

This year, the first Airports:China™ forecast will be presented, outlining projections for the 20 million Chinese visitors to points across the US over the next five years. There is also a special pre-Summit China-US Opportunities Symposium on the afternoon of September 17, which will outline how US airports and communities can strategize to capture a larger share of this traffic.

At the IAFS, senior executives from 20 global airlines, including American, Air China, Delta, Japan, Hainan, United, Southwest, Allegiant, Lufthansa, Eurowings and more, will be discussing their views of the future changes expected in air transportation.

We are also exploring the future of new-technology supersonic transports. It’s no longer hypothetical. They are in the development stage, and they will change the way global airlines position their product.
