Farsight Security to Share Practical, Proven Techniques to Fight Spam at M3AAWG 38th General Meeting in Paris

SAN MATEO, CA--(Marketwired - October 17, 2016) - Farsight Security, Inc. today announced that Joe St Sauver, Farsight Scientist and a M3AAWG Senior Technical Advisor, will provide training on using passive DNS, which can be very helpful in the fight against spam, at the M3AAWG 38th General Meeting to be held in Paris from October 24th - October 27th, 2016.

The Domain Name System (DNS) is the basis for everything on the Internet. DNS maps domain names to IP addresses and other Internet resources.

The training class, "Nowhere to Hide: Using Passive DNS to Find Spammer Infrastructure," will show how passive DNS can be used to expose the diverse systems and domains that spammers often use in an effort to avoid being blocklisted or otherwise held accountable for the unwanted email they send to users.

The Messaging, Malware and Mobile Anti-Abuse Working Group (M3AAWG) is a prestigious industry group with more than 200 member organizations who collaborate to work against bots, malware, spam, viruses, denial-of-service attacks (DDoS) and other online exploitation.

"Farsight Security is a proud supporter of M3AAWG, which is a critical global industry organization focused on combatting spam and other types of online abuse. Farsight is committed to supporting that important work by providing technical training, and otherwise contributing to the work of M3AAWG," said St Sauver.

In addition, Farsight Security CEO and Cofounder Dr. Paul Vixie will be a panelist on a Response Policy Zone (RPZ) panel at the conference. RPZ is an open and vendor-neutral extension to the DNS that allows administrators to locally modify how Internet names get resolved via DNS. Dr. Vixie was inducted into the Internet Hall of Fame for work related to DNS in 2014. Farsight Security will also sponsor a morning breakfast during the event.
