Retarget Links acquires Primeloop, a 500 startups company that holds the IP for link retargeting

VANCOUVER, BC--(Marketwired - November 03, 2016) -

  • Primeloop is a Las Vegas-based company that pioneered and holds the patents of link retargeting technology. It was funded by 500 Startups, Tony Hsieh's Vegas Techfund, Seraph Group and Bay area investors.
  • Vancouver-based Retarget Links is the leader in link retargeting, a service that allows advertisers to display banner ads to anyone who clicks on links made with its short link tool.

Inbound Retargeting Technologies Inc., the company behind Retarget Links, announced today that it has acquired Primeloop, a Las Vegas based company that pioneered link retargeting, which is a technology Inbound has enhanced with an ad campaign management platform.

Link retargeting is a technology that allows advertisers and marketers to create short links that anonymously tag those that click on the links. These tags (commonly called cookies) are recognized by publishers and ad networks, such that banner ads from those that created the short links are displayed to those that are tagged.

'Link' retargeting is similar to 'site' retargeting, a technology commercialized by Google, AdRoll, Criteo and others, but offers superior ROI as it allows advertisers to display banner ads in an even more targeted fashion. Link retargeting is mainly used by social media, email and inbound advertisers.

"One of the most important drivers for this transaction is Primeloop's IP and the portfolio of patents which are currently pending" said Serge Salager, Retarget Links' CEO and co-founder.

"Primeloop founders were the first ones to commercialize what some describe as the combination of Bitly and AdRoll under the same roof. We have taken Primeloop's technology further and allow our users to upload and manage their banner ads directly and monitor their campaign performance directly from their dashboard. We are delighted to offer this to Primeloop's user base", added Mr. Salager.

"We created this technology to enable brands to share the most relevant 3rd party content without losing the ability to remarket their brand to that engaged audience. We are excited that Serge and his team are continuing this vision and providing our customers with their enhanced solution to creatively grow their businesses" said Thomas Knoll, Primeloop's CEO and co-founder.

Thomas Knoll will join Inbound's board of advisors as part of the transaction. The deal terms were not disclosed.
