Schimenti Construction joins in celebration of H&M grand opening at the Westfield World Trade Center

Store is one of nine new WTC projects developed by Schimenti

NEW YORK, Nov. 17, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Schimenti Construction took part in the Grand Opening celebration of a new H&M at Westfield World Trade Center on Thursday, Nov, 17, 2016.

The new 25,000 square-foot retail space is located at 18 Church Street and is part of the new Westfield World Trade Center that opened in August.

Westfield World Trade Center features over half a million square feet of new retail space with offerings that include boutiques and specialty stores along with convenience retail and malls that feature leading global brands.

Along with the new H&M, Schimenti Construction served as the general contractor for eight other stores in the Oculus, the 78,000 square foot retail and dining centerpiece of the World Trade Center Transportation Hub.

Continuing its legacy as the preferred contractor of major retail brands, Schimenti Construction also developed retail space in the WTC for Banana Republic, Fossil, Victoria's Secret, Under Armour, COS, Breitling, & Other Stories, and Cole Haan.

"The greatest challenge for the project was the marriage of H&M's branding alongside the World Trade Center," said Schimenti project manager Sean Killian. "Maintaining the World Trade Center's theme while accentuating H&M's presence and finding that balance within our schedule is the projects greatest achievement."

Schimenti Construction, founded in 1994, has built a strong reputation in the retail construction industry and has developed a solid niche in urban construction. The firm specializes in developing retail shopping environments for some of the nation's leading retailers.

The company has recently been named to the Engineering News-Record (ENR) 2016 Top 400 Contractors Report and the ENR Top 50 New York Contractors Report.
This is the fifth Schimenti-built H&M retail space including the Swedish retailer's flagship Herald Square store that opened last year.
