Willis Towers Watson awarded perfect score for LGBT workplace equality

ARLINGTON, Va., Dec. 05, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Leading global advisory, broking and solutions company, Willis Towers Watson (NASDAQ:WLTW) today announced that it received a perfect score of 100% for the 2017 Corporate Equality Index (CEI), a U.S.-based benchmarking survey and report on corporate policies and practices related to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) workplace equality, administered by the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Foundation. Willis Towers Watson joins the ranks of 517 major U.S. businesses that earned top marks this year.

“We’re honored to receive a perfect score on the CEI for the third consecutive year,” said Carl Hess, head of Investment, Risk and Reinsurance, and executive cosponsor for Out@WTW, Willis Towers Watson’s resource community for LGBT associates and allies. “This recognition is a reflection of our diverse workforce and inclusive environment — something that we’re very proud of at Willis Towers Watson.”

The 2017 CEI rated 1,043 businesses in the report, which evaluates LGBT-related policies and practices including nondiscrimination workplace protections, domestic partner benefits, transgender-inclusive health care benefits, competency programs and public engagement with the LGBT community. Willis Towers Watson’s efforts in satisfying all of the CEI’s criteria resulted in a 100% ranking and the designation as a best place to work for LGBT equality.

“Even in the face of relentless attempts to undermine equality, America’s leading companies and law firms remain steadfast and committed to supporting and defending the rights and dignity of LGBT people,” said Chad Griffin, HRC president. “The unprecedented expansion of inclusive workplaces across the country and around the globe not only reflects our progress, it helps drive it.  As we enter a new chapter in our fight for equality, support from the business community will be more critical than ever to protect our historic advancements over the last decade and to continue to push equality forward for workers, customers, and families around the world.”
