Vericel Corporation Announces Proposed Public Offering of Common Stock


CAMBRIDGE, Mass., Dec. 15, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Vericel Corporation (NASDAQ:VCEL), a leading developer of expanded autologous cell therapies for the treatment of patients with serious diseases and conditions, today announced that it intends to offer and sell shares of its common stock in an underwritten public offering. Vericel also intends to grant the underwriters a 30-day option to purchase up to an additional 15% of the shares of common stock sold in the public offering on the same terms and conditions. The offering is subject to market conditions, and there can be no assurance as to whether or when the offering may be completed, or as to the actual size or terms of the offering. All of the shares in the offering are to be sold by Vericel, with net proceeds to be used primarily to support the commercialization of MACI, expand promotional efforts for Epicel, expand and optimize manufacturing and for other general corporate purposes.

Piper Jaffray & Co. is acting as the sole bookrunner for the offering.
