RallyPoint Welcomes 1 Millionth Member from Military Community

Leading online vertical network for service members and veterans significantly increases membership and customer bases in 2016

WATERTOWN, Mass., Jan. 05, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- RallyPoint, America’s leading online vertical network for service members and veterans, today announced that it has welcomed its one-millionth member, reaching a major milestone in the military community.

RallyPoint has experienced rapid growth since it was founded in 2012, becoming the platform of choice for the military and veteran community. RallyPoint membership is split approximately 50-50 between service members and veterans, adding over 1,000 members per day.

“RallyPoint brings online scale to the conversations we service members have always had offline, throughout our military careers. Our site connects active duty, veterans and civilian supporters in an intergenerational and global manner that has never before been possible,” said CEO Dave Gowel, an Army veteran. “In addition to surpassing one million registered members, our site’s engagement is exciting. With more than one million people visiting RallyPoint monthly, including members and non-members, RallyPoint’s audience consumes the content that our members actively create, comment or vote on more than 200,000 times each month.”

In recent years, RallyPoint has also expanded to welcome civilian supporters, military family members and Department of Defense civilians who make up approximately five percent of RallyPoint’s total membership. Though limited in their ability to engage proactively with active service members on the site, they are still able to view content and participate in robust discussions.

RallyPoint is defined by its focus on providing a comprehensive online experience exclusively to the military community. Unlike other online social or professional networks, RallyPoint does not partition the community based around a member’s personal connections. RallyPoint discussions are visible to all site users, where members can engage with each other openly. RallyPoint’s news feed is customized based on a member’s personal interests and previous interactions. The result is a place where Americans who share common experiences and histories through military service can engage in a civil dialogue around topics of interest, provide career guidance or seek help in solving a challenging personal or professional problem.

RallyPoint uniquely breaks down the major institutional boundaries common to the military experience, allowing people to converse freely across military service and ranks, which creates experiences and engagements that would often never happen in face-to-face conversations. Nowhere else on the Internet do you see on a daily basis a Navy commander receive advice from an Air Force technical sergeant on maintaining unit discipline, a Vietnam veteran share a meme with a post-9/11 veteran, and a former member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff host a public Q&A session.

Member profiles on RallyPoint include details such as branch of service, military rank, military specialty, deployments and specialized schools. Users have the ability to incorporate civilian experiences in their profiles, which makes it possible to cross-reference military and civilian data points. RallyPoint taps the common power of the military experience to help individual service members and veterans more effectively navigate their careers and personal lives.

In November, RallyPoint ranked second in a national analysis of veteran-owned startups. As RallyPoint has grown, its value proposition to employers and advertisers has expanded. In 2016, the company tripled its customer base while also expanding business products offered. Businesses that once saw RallyPoint as simply “LinkedIn for the Military” now come to the platform not just to hire veterans, but also to place highly effective native advertising and to manage their talent by leveraging RallyPoint’s unique data regarding the common characteristics of the military personnel who have found success in specific industries.
