Quartzdyne Releases New 1/2" Quartz Pressure Transducer

Latest Product Improves Efficiency and Workplace Parameters

SALT LAKE CITY, March 16, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Quartzdyne, Inc. (http://www.quartzdyne.com), a leading provider in pressure transducers for the oil and gas industry, recently announced the launch of their new ½" Precision Transducer.

"With this announcement, operators and service companies will be able to receive the same quality measurements from more places in the well bore," said Glenn Small, President of Quartzdyne, Inc. "Our latest pressure transducer enables deeper drilling, monitoring of larger cross-sectional flows, passing of a wire or fiber by the sensor, or simply fitting into tighter applications."

In addition to improved aesthetics, the entire transducer assembly has survived qualification testing including shock, vibration, and rapid thermal cycling. Similar to larger Quartzdyne products, the smaller transducer is accurate to less than 0.02% full scale and drifts less than 0.02% full-scale per annum at maximum conditions of 30,000 psi / 200°C. It is available in frequency or digital I²C output. All wetted materials are rated for downhole corrosive service.

"Without question, this new transducer continues to position Quartzdyne as the leader in the downhole pressure market," said Small. "Our team has and will continue to remain focused on creating products and services that improve and streamline downhole oil and gas processes."

Initial results of the transducer are promising. The sensor, made of crystalline quartz, equilibrates 50% faster and reports 90% smaller dynamic errors than prior quartz-transducer versions. The crystal oscillates by an application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC), a silicon chip that operates reliable for 10 years at 205°C, and is functional beyond 250° C.
