Sugarlands Distilling Company Celebrates Three Years of Business

East Tennessee distillery expands distribution to more than 35 states

GATLINBURG, Tenn., April 3, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Sugarlands Distilling Company, award-winning distillers in East Tennessee, is celebrating its third year of developing and producing fine spirits.

Since opening in 2014, the downtown Gatlinburg distillery has established itself as one of the premier distilleries in the south, winning nearly thirty awards for superior spirits.

Over the past twelve months, the East Tennessee distillery has expanded its distribution into Georgia, Wisconsin and Texas. They also partnered with Caskers.com—an online spirits distribution website—making their moonshine, whiskey and liqueurs available in more than 35 states.

"We have seen incredible growth over the past three years," said owner and CEO Ned Vickers. "We owe that to the amazing fans who take home our spirits and share it with their friends and family. It's for them that we continue working to develop new and innovative spirits."

Sugarlands Distilling Co. also introduced Roaming Man Tennessee Rye Whiskey in 2016, a unique rye whiskey that originated as a popular 'unaged' distillate, earning gold medal honors at the San Francisco Wine and Spirits competition in 2015.

The company plans to expand its aged whiskey operation in 2017 by creating more unique mash bills and some traditional whiskeys.

Sugarlands Distilling Co. continued its commitment to giving back in 2016, donating more than $60,000 to nonprofit organizations across the country. They also raised more than $30,000 for people displaced by wildfires in Sevier County through their Smokies Strong campaign.

"Our company is locally owned and operated, and we are deeply involved in our community," Vickers said. "We believe in the 'mountain way,' which means lending a hand and giving back when you can. We take pride in helping spread that idea as far as we can."

Sugarlands Distilling Company has quickly become one of the most celebrated crafters of moonshine spirits in the country. The East Tennessee distillery currently offers 20 varieties of award-winning spirits distilled in the Great Smoky Mountains.

Each year, nearly 1 million people visit the distillery, making it America's top-rated distillery experience and the number one "thing to do" in Gatlinburg, Tenn., according to TripAdvisor.com.

The Gatlinburg distillery combines innovative drinks with a raconteur and thrilling vibe. At the downtown Gatlinburg distillery, craft moonshine and whiskey partners up with live music, moonshine tastings, distillery tours and outdoor adventures in the Sugarlands—an area of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, also known as "moonshiners' paradise".
