Non-Profit buildOn’s Annual Chicago Dinner Celebrates Service and Youth

This year’s buildOn Dinner is a celebration of solidarity, service and Chicago youth. This inspiring evening unites over 400 corporate executives, young professionals and community leaders to recognize the work of buildOn’s incredible youth here in Chicago, their dedication to community, and the work buildOn does globally. The dinner will take place at the Chicago Hilton on Thursday, June 1st starting at 6:00pm.

Chicago, IL, May 26, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) --

This year, buildOn is celebrating Loop Capital for their collaboration with youth locally and their unwavering support. Loop Capital participated in buildOn’s 36 Hour immersion experience this May at TEAM Englewood High School. Jim Reynolds, Loop Capital’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, will be speaking at the dinner about Loop Capital’s 36 Hours immersion experience.

Jim stated, “buildOn's 36 Hour immersion experience was truly a fantastic opportunity to spend time serving with a group of amazing TEAM Englewood High School students. I enjoyed every minute with the students and reflecting on my time growing up in Englewood.  It was a wonderful experience and I hope more people take the time to be immersed with buildOn.”

buildOn’s 36 Hours is a personal and immersive experience that allows business and community leaders to travel to a buildOn neighborhood and “walk in the shoes” of our U.S. students through a student-led immersion experience.

Additionally, MB Real Estate, Bear Construction, ABM, Mesirow Financial, Jenner & Block, Antares Capital, and GE Transportation all participated this past school year in buildOn’s Partnership Program.

buildOn’s Partnership Program is a unique service program that allows companies to partner with buildOn students to share skills, offer mentorship and serve their communities in solidarity. Over the course of six months, companies and local Chicago youth worked together in sessions aimed at helping students gain critical tools for their future while addressing the needs of the Chicago community.

Jerry Zinkula, the Managing Director at Allstate Investments and who currently leads their private credit program, has officially joined the buildOn Midwest Board.

Jerry said, “I believe every child should be allowed the opportunity to pursue a quality education in a safe and accessible environment. My parents understood the value of an education and worked very, very hard to permit their nine children to earn degrees and seek career opportunities not afforded to them. I simply want to help give other children the opportunity my parents gave me, and buildOn’s mission fits perfectly in this regard”

buildOn is thrilled to have Jerry as an active board member to provide his insight and expertise to our mission and movement.
