Appriss Health Announces Interface in MEDENT® Electronic Health Record to Provide Real-Time Prescription Drug Monitoring Program Information within Clinical Workflow

Partnership with Leading Physician Practice EHR Vendor to Address Substance Use Disorder via PMP Gateway

Louisville, KY, June 15, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Appriss Health, provider of the most comprehensive platform for substance use disorder in the U.S., announced a partnership with MEDENT® to integrate state prescription drug monitoring (PDMP) data into the electronic health record (EHR) to help curb prescription drug misuse and abuse. The integration, through Appriss Health’s PMP Gateway, will enable access to data, analytics, tools and resources from state PDMPs from within care team workflows in real-time, at the point-of-care to improve patient safety and outcomes. Ranked as a top electronic health record, MEDENT  has elected to provide this vital service without any integration fees to the end user.

With just one click from within a patient's chart, providers can now access a patient specific prescription report from their state's PDMP. The interface eliminates the manual process of logging into the state PDMP website separately and then entering the patient's name and demographics. In addition, MEDENT will automatically document this event in the patient's chart as a triage.

“By providing invaluable PDMP data right at the point-of-care in the MEDENT EHR system, our users will now be able to take advantage of advanced clinical decision supports. This unique partnership with Appriss Health is a natural fit for the MEDENT system,” said Gary Cuthbert, president of MEDENT.

“Integration into provider workflow is a key initiative to expanding PDMP usage to improve patient safety, mitigate substance misuse/abuse and ensure compliance,” said Rob Cohen, president of Appriss Health.  “We sincerely hope that every MEDENT user will take advantage of this integration and the potentially life-saving insights it provides through PMP Gateway.”
