Aurora Initiates Bifacial Project with Industry Giant

NORTH VANCOUVER, British Columbia, June 28, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Aurora Solar Technologies Inc. (“Aurora”)(“Company”) (TSX.V:ACU) (OTCBB:AACTF) (FSE:A82), a leader in inline measurement and control technology for the photovoltaic manufacturing industry, is pleased to announce that it has reached an agreement with one of the world’s largest solar panel manufacturers to examine capabilities and applications for the use of Aurora’s DecimaTM Gemini measurement system and VeritasTM process visualization system for their bifacial cell technology.

During the project, Aurora’s Decima and Veritas products will be installed at this manufacturer’s bifacial production facility and various aspects of production line ramp-up, monitoring and control will be investigated by Aurora and the manufacturer’s R&D and production personnel. Aurora's infrared-based measurement technology and process visualization software will provide the manufacturer with real-time data needed to identify and solve problems with process variability. The project is expected to commence in September 2017.

“We are excited to work with this industry leader on one of the industry’s fastest-growing high-efficiency solar cell designs,” said Gordon Deans, Aurora’s Chief Operating Officer. “This manufacturer approached Aurora because of our unique capabilities in the measurement and process characterization of bifacial cells and the resulting potential for faster production line ramp-up and ongoing yield performance. This is our third major opportunity with our Decima Gemini technology for bifacial cell applications since launching the product six months ago, and we look forward to broadening our leadership with this key technology through this project.”

About Aurora Solar Technologies:

Aurora’s mission is to deliver exceptional results to the photovoltaic industry through measurement and control of critical processes during solar cell manufacturing.

We measure and map the results of critical cell fabrication processes, providing real-time visualization of material properties and true production tool performance. Our products provide process engineers and production-line operators with the means to rapidly detect and correct process excursions, material faults, limit variations, and optimize processes, thereby eliminating yield-reducing and profit-killing product variation.

We are creating the standard for quality control systems for the global photovoltaic industry.
