Working together for a healthier you

St. Louis, MO, July 27, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- St. Louis, MO July 26, 2017 – With a goal of building a stronger and healthier community, mark your calendars for a free Family Health Fair to be held at Confluence Academy on August 19, 2017 from 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM.

The Consulate General of Mexico of Kansas City, in partnership with the Hispanic Federation, Pfizer RxPathways, the Pfizer Latino Colleague Resource Group, and other local agencies invite the community to its Family Health Fair. The activity will provide free healthcare education materials and medical screenings in order to aid participants in their wellness needs.

“The Family Health fair is an initiative that looks to provide to communities of limited resources the necessary tools to create healthy lifestyles,” said Angelica Wong, Pfizer Latino Colleague Resources Group Chair. “Our goal is to share information about the different community health resources that are available and provide options for various medical screenings, with a mission toward health education and prevention.  We are pleased to be able to offer these services to the community because it instills a strong sense of health awareness of both physical and mental health issues, which are key to one’s general well-being.”

The 2017 Family Health Fair is free, open to the public, and will provide education on a variety of wellness topics as well as referrals to medical care facilities in the area, if needed. Free health screenings such as: cardiovascular, diabetes, respiratory, cancer, among other services will also be provided. Participants will also learn about Pfizer RxPathways, a service that connects eligible patients to a range of assistance programs that offer insurance support, co-pay assistance, and medicines for free or at a savings. Furthermore, the event will also feature fun-filled activities for the entire family.

“We collaborate with this annual event, to support and facilitate the access to medical consultations, tests, and medications for Latino communities”, said Josana Tonda, National Coordinator of Ventanillas de Salud. “Our efforts are directed toward benefiting vulnerable populations who generally do not have access to health care services.”

“As the nation’s largest and fastest growing ethnic group, it’s important that all Latinos have access to affordable healthcare,” said Jose Calderon, president of the Hispanic Federation.  “Nevertheless, some communities face socio-economic obstacles; this is why at the Hispanic Federation we strongly support the Family Health Fair as a medium to make wellness programs more accessible and educate communities on the importance of proper health care.”

Please come and enjoy this free, public event. The Family Health Fair will be held at the Confluence Academy, 3112 Meramec St., St. Louis, MO 63118. Doors will be open from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
