PSI Wins Contract to Provide EBMS Donor Sustainment Services to Support DHA

PSI TEAM WILL CONTINUE KEY SUPPORT TO THE DEFENSE HEALTH AGENCY (DHA) TO ENSURE THE HIGHEST LEVEL OF HEALTHCARE FOR OUR NATION’S MILITARY SERVICE MEMBERS, RETIREES, AND THEIR DEPENDENTS

ARLINGTON, Va., Aug. 16, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Planned Systems International, Inc. (PSI) — a leading provider of health information technology (IT) solutions to the federal government — announced it has been awarded a $16.2 million task in support of the Department of Defense’s (DoD) mission-essential Enterprise Blood Management System (EBMS) Donor Sustainment Services program. The contract was awarded under GSA’s new Health IT Services Special Item Number (SIN) on IT Schedule 70. PSI is honored to have received both the first and second awards under the new HIT SIN, having won the EBMS Transfusion Sustainment Services contract earlier this year.

The ongoing demand for blood donations is a critical item for the military readiness of our troops worldwide, given that blood cannot be artificially reproduced and must be replenished due to a short shelf-life. Under this contract, PSI as prime integrator, along with its COTS product partner, Mediware Information Systems, will continue to help the DHA effectively manage and track the full spectrum of blood donor registration, donor eligibility, product testing, manufacturing, blood inventory management and associated record keeping for military and civilian blood donors.

The PSI Team has worked with the DHA to develop and sustain all aspects of the EBMS Donor Services program since its inception in March 2011. PSI successfully completed the implementation and deployment of the program at all DoD Blood Donor Centers (BDCs) worldwide in 2016.

With this award, PSI continues its long history as a global provider of enterprise healthcare solutions for the DoD.

Michael Snyder, Chief Operating Officer, said, “This award is the direct result of the exemplary performance of PSI’s Blood Team. We’re honored to continue our long-time partnership with the DHA supporting the MHS on this vital project. I am proud that PSI is able to continue to deliver complex, enterprise-wide solutions that improve patient care for our military and their families.”
