Thompson & Knight Houston Office Relocates to BG Group Place in Downtown

Dallas, Texas, Aug. 16, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Houston office of the law firm of Thompson & Knight LLP has taken occupancy of its new home at BG Group Place (also known as 811 Main) in downtown Houston. The new office location continues Thompson & Knight's longstanding commitment to excellence and nearly four decades of service to the Houston marketplace.

“We approached our office relocation with a sharp focus on embracing the culture and character of Thompson & Knight as well as the importance of the Houston market to the Firm,” said Roger D. Aksamit, Thompson & Knight’s Houston Office Leader. “By selecting BG Group Place, one of the premier office buildings in downtown Houston, and customizing our space to provide the best possible working environment, we ultimately achieved our goal of creating a first-class facility in which our clients, attorneys, and staff can conduct business. We look forward to growing our office and continuing to serve our clients and the great city of Houston from this top quality space for many years to come.”

Thompson & Knight’s new office occupies approximately two and a half floors and incorporates a number of traditional and innovative efficiencies, enabling the Firm to continue its high level of client service and maintain employee retention. Safeguarding confidential information continues to be a top priority for the Firm and its clients. As such, the new space has a number of safety features, including a state-of-the-art security system. In addition, extra sound proofing and sound muffling features increase protection of client confidentiality and other conversations. An upgraded on-site catering kitchen and conference center facilities better facilitate client meetings, and an employee break room offers skyline views combined with the function of wireless internet and mobile recharging stations.

The interiors of the office juxtapose warm and cool colors with a sophisticated palette of deep greys, crisp whites, and copper tones. The combination reflects a beautiful layered effect with thoughtful consideration of varying textures and luster nuances, all of which culminate in a refined, modernly elegant space. An internal staircase allows employees to move efficiently and securely between floors and floor-to-ceiling windows to provide natural light. The space also offers open collaboration areas with writing and display technologies and USB power outlets for convenient charging of electronic devices. Each office is equipped with a desk that easily transitions between a sitting and standing position to promote employee comfort and well-being.

“Today is an exciting day for the Houston office of Thompson & Knight,” said Mark M. Sloan, the Firm’s Managing Partner. “Our new office space underscores our ongoing commitment to the Houston marketplace. In addition, we continue to strengthen our core practices in Houston through new attorney hiring and remain dedicated to retaining our top-quality talent who deliver excellent client service in Houston and beyond.”

Featuring more than 900,000 square feet of office space and 36 floors, the BG Group Place building includes amenities such as a fitness center and onsite banking services. The building is LEED Platinum certified with the U.S. Green Building Council; has Energy Star equipment; uses Parksmart “green” technology with a toll tag or electronic hang tag for entry and exit; and is recognized with the BOMA 360 Performance Program®, a designation which demonstrates the building is outperforming the competition across all areas of operations and management.

In preparation for the office relocation, the Firm greatly reduced the volume of paper records by converting the data to electronic versions, a “green” effort that will continue in the new space. In addition, much of the office furniture from the Firm’s old location was donated to local non-profit organizations who can reuse the furnishings.

CBRE’s Kevin Kushner, Charles Gordon, and Lucian Bukowski represented Thompson & Knight in the lease transaction. Gensler handled the design of the Firm’s new offices.
