New Patent Pending Lifttruck Scale Design Introduced; Providing Superior Performance, Fewer Parts and Lower Cost

HOFFMAN ESTATES, Ill., Sept. 07, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- A new patent pending lifttruck scale design is being introduced by Forklift Scales Direct.  The new 5,000 lb. Class II ITA carriage scale provides superior precision and, at $2345, costs less than 40% of comparable lifttruck scales. The new design uses far fewer parts, reducing both complexity and cost.

“When most forklift truck scales are built they begin as modifications of existing platform scale designs,” said Jim Matoura, executive vice president and general manager of Forklift Scales Direct.  “Repurposing a design intended to measure a vertical load for a forklift scale – which measures cantilevered loads – creates a complex and convoluted design.

“Instead, our engineers started with a clean sheet of paper and designed a scale specifically for measuring the cantilevered load of a forklift,” said Matoura.  “The result is a groundbreaking design that uses far fewer parts, provides a level of precision down to one pound and costs less than half of competing scales.”

“The simple design (less than 50 pieces versus more than 400 in some competitors) reduces our manufacturing costs significantly and enables us to provide a forklift scale at this dramatically lower price,” added Matoura.

“The design is also much more robust, without fragile flexures and complicated designs that have been the source of maintenance problems for the existing competing products,” said Matoura.  “The top of our scale is in tension when loaded and those forces are absorbed by six chains, each of which has a working load limit of 5,700 lbs.  This gives the scale a safety design factor of more six. The bottom of the scale is in compression when loaded and those forces are absorbed by a solid steel roller across the entire width of the scale.  It’s the first completely new design in forklift scale technology in decades.” A user guide is available at https://www.forkliftscalesdirect.com/user-guide.  The scale is easily attached to Class II forklift scale carriages in less than an hour.

“Rather than establishing a distributor network, we are making the scale available through the website, reducing costs even further,” said Matoura. “This makes it the ideal scale for businesses that may have considered a floor scale and hesitated because they didn't think they could afford the convenience and efficiency of a $6,000 forklift scale.”

The company is introducing the scale at https://www.forkliftscalesdirect.com where it can be purchased directly.  More information is available via the website at https://www.forkliftscalesdirect.com.
