Bay Dynamics Joins VMware Mobile Security Alliance to Enable Risk-Based Authentication & Authorization

NEW YORK, Sept. 12, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Bay Dynamics, a leader in cyber risk analytics, announced today the company is joining the VMware Mobile Security Alliance to enable organizations to more effectively mitigate mobile threats. As part of its membership, integration between Bay Dynamics’ flagship cyber risk analytics platform, Risk Fabric®, and the VMware Workspace ONE digital workspace platform powered by VMware AirWatch technology will enable risk-based authentication and authorization for remote users.

“Simple remote logins using a username and password are no longer enough to protect organizations’ most valuable assets,” said Mike Saletta, Vice President of Channel Sales at Bay Dynamics. “They must evaluate the risk level of each individual user and then decide which authentication and authorization controls should be put in place. We are excited to partner with a global leader like VMware, to enable enterprises and government agencies to move to a pragmatic risk based model of cyber security.”

Risk Fabric quantifies the impact of cyber risk based on actual telemetry data in an organization’s environment and delivers the top threats and vulnerabilities to mitigate each day to reduce risk the most. With its patented User and Entity Behavior Analytics (UEBA), Risk Fabric identifies unusual behaviors and policy violations by employees and third party users working remotely and on premise, and assigns risk scores based on user behavior, value of the assets accessed, impact to the organization if the assets were compromised, and additional business context. The integration between Risk Fabric and the VMware Workspace ONE platform allows the end-to-end system to automatically determine whether a user requires additional authentication and authorization controls based on how much risk the individual poses to the organization.

“Mobile Security Alliance members are committed to an open platform approach integrating APIs to simplify mobile security administration and remediation to enable customers with comprehensive protection against threats on mobile devices, applications and networks,” said Ashish Jain, vice president, Product Management, End-User Computing, VMware. “We welcome Bay Dynamics to the Mobile Security Alliance. VMware Workspace ONE will be able to leverage Bay Dynamics Risk Fabric and deliver a more contextual and secure end user experience.”

Bay Dynamics’ new collaboration with VMware is the latest of a series of recent corporate announcements. In July 2017, the company announced a new UEBA technology partnership with Symantec Corporation that will enable enterprises and government agencies to more efficiently and effectively detect, quantify, and prioritize insider threats and outside risks. Bay Dynamics also announced the opening of its new headquarters in New York City and the appointment of the United States’ first federal CISO Ret. Brigadier General Gregory Touhill to the company’s board of directors.
