Ceridian Proudly Becomes a Founding Partner of #MoveTheDial

TORONTO, Sept. 21, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Ceridian, a global human capital management company, today announced it will be a founding partner for #MoveTheDial, a global movement committed to raise the profile of, and create opportunities for women in the tech sector. In addition to contributing financially, Ceridian’s senior leadership team will actively participate in the #MoveTheDial movement.

“The #MoveTheDial movement is something that I am deeply passionate about, and we are immensely proud to be a founding partner,” said David Ossip, Ceridian’s Chairman and CEO. “As a global technology leader, diversity and inclusion are not only integral organizational values, they are vital to our success as a business. We look forward to working with #MoveTheDial to create opportunities for more women to succeed as leaders in the tech sector.”

“Ceridian has been with the #MoveTheDial Movement since day one and I am delighted to announce them as a founding partner,” said Jodi Kovitz, CEO of AceTech Ontario and founder of #MoveTheDial. “Canada can be a global leader in tech. We have the ideas, investors, and support from industry, government and our universities. What’s missing is greater diversity and collaboration. The partnership with Ceridian will help #MoveTheDial address that critical gap.”

Today, only three per cent of tech CEOs are women, and less than a quarter of the tech-related work force in Canada is made up of women. According to some estimates, in coming years the Toronto/Kitchener-Waterloo tech corridor will need to fill almost 200,000 tech jobs. Positioning women for these positions will be critical not only to the local tech sector, but to Canada’s economic future.

#MoveTheDial will host a number of events in the coming months, including a Hackathon on October 21 in Toronto. The Hackathon will bring together people from the tech sector to generate ideas on how to encourage more women to get involved in technology.

On November 2, Ceridian and #MoveTheDial, along with several other leading community partners, will release a Benchmark Report, entitled “Where’s the Dial?”, that provides baseline metrics on the role of women in Canada’s tech sector. It will explore the national participation rates and roles of women in technology sector on the investment, technology development, and leadership/board sides of the industry.

“Ceridian has championed female leadership through executive support and the rollout of the Ceridian Women’s Network and the #GoSponsorHer platforms,” said Kristina Cleary, Chief Marketing Officer, Ceridian. “While we’re conscious that our work isn’t done and there is more to do, our support for #MoveTheDial is yet another step in the right direction to help drive gender equity in the workplace.”
