(NASDAQ:NEWT), announced that the banc-serv Board of Managers has retained the consulting services of Brent M. Ciurlino to review the operations of banc-serv to ensure that banc-serv’s operations meet the standards expected by its customers and that team members perform consistent with banc-serv values.
Mr. Ciurlino was formerly the Director, Office of Credit Risk Management / Asst. Associate Administrator for the U.S. Small Business Administration (“SBA”) from January 2012 through September 2015 and was the Senior Executive Service member and primary regulatory & risk officer for the $105 billion SBA portfolio, overseeing the more than 4,500 program lenders. Mr. Ciurlino was recruited and appointed by the Cabinet Level Administrator to transform the SBA credit and program risk management with a directive to strengthen oversight of the SBA Office of Capital Access.
In addition, the Board of Managers is pleased to announce that Karen McHugh was elevated to the position of Executive Vice President of Operations. Karen brings over 30 years of SBA and banking industry experience to her new position, as well as a wealth of knowledge and a proven track record of success in specialized areas including SBA loan audits, policy and procedure, credit underwriting, and eligibility. Previously, Karen served as the EVP/Chief Operating Officer of the National Association of Government Guaranteed Lenders (“NAGGL”) for over 10 years. During her time at NAGGL, Karen designed instructional courses, provided technical assistance to lenders, and advocated on behalf of SBA lenders to SBA policy makers.
