Bob Woodruff Foundation Announces $1.4 Million Investment in Fall Grant Recipients

NEW YORK, Oct. 17, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Today, the Bob Woodruff Foundation announced a total investment of $1.4 million awarded to 14 organizations around the nation that facilitate programs serving post-9/11 military service members, veterans and their families. The grantees address the foundation’s key focus areas of Education and Employment, Quality of Life, and Rehabilitation and Recovery.

“These fall grants comprise a balanced portfolio of fiscally responsible, effective and innovative programs that align with our mission,” said Anne Marie Dougherty, executive director of the Bob Woodruff Foundation. “We’re excited our recipients include both new programs and longstanding partners who, together, help us effectively address our 2017 priorities.”

Education and Employment grants support programs that help veterans recognize their entrepreneurial aspirations and open up a range of professional opportunities for veterans and their spouses via postgraduate scholarships and professional licensing and certifications.

The Quality of Life portfolio includes adaptive sports, information and resources for those struggling with traumatic brain injury (TBI), and improved legal services for veterans. This portfolio also addresses the needs of children in caregiving families.

The Rehabilitation and Recovery portfolio provides evidence-based, clinical mental health treatment; and also builds a national veteran peer support culture and capability.
