Hitachi Vantara Announces 2017 Pentaho Excellence Award Winners

Global Customers Across Six Categories Honored for Their Innovative Use of Pentaho Data Integration and Analytics To Reach Exceptional Data-Driven Business Outcomes

The annual awards recognize customers around the globe who are deploying Pentaho to achieve outcomes that positively drive business and society forward. The 2017 Pentaho Excellence Award category winners and honorees are:

Big Data – Winner: ZeniMax Media Inc.
ZeniMax Media Inc. creates and publishes video games for consoles, PCs and mobile devices. To address their big data management requirements, ZeniMax chose solutions from Amazon Redshift, Cloudera and Hitachi Vantara’s Pentaho software. Embedded Analytics – Winner: STIWA Group
STIWA Group develops high-performance automation and manufacturing software for automotive supplier production and other industries. After implementing Pentaho, STIWA Group has the infrastructure in place to respond to changing market demands in real time and identify new revenue streams. Teletrac Navman’s powerful user-friendly platform, DIRECTOR, factors in every facet of their customers’ businesses. ROI – Winner: LAZIOcrea | Partner: BNova
LAZIOcrea is the administrative branch of Italy's central region (Lazio Regione), including Rome, and is home to six million people. With the help of partner BNova, LAZIOcrea has implemented Pentaho software to better analyze healthcare data and costs with a single view. Since implementation, LAZIOcrea has seen a reduction in unnecessary prescriptions and a savings of 41 million euros.

Social Impact – Winner: Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana
Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana is the largest singly-accredited community college in the U.S. educating nearly 160,000 students across 45 campuses and sites across the state. Using Pentaho software, Ivy Tech Community College was able to consolidate data from over a dozen disparate systems into one interactive solution that has democratized its data, giving intuitive access to thousands of administrators, faculty and staff. As a result, Ivy Tech has optimized its operations and is improving student success with applied predictive analytics, and is now facilitating the identification of thousands of additional graduation opportunities for students each year.

To compete in the 2017 Pentaho Excellence Awards, customers submitted their deployment stories in one of six categories, where a panel of judges evaluated the submissions based on their creativity and business impact. This year’s judging panel included:
